My "prom"
At my school the high school banquet is talked about for months prior to the actual event. Girls plan out their dresses, some buy material to get one made, they try and figure out who's gonna ask who, and all that fun stuff. The guys go and always look great and some of them get pretty into, buying (pink) shirts, wondering if the food will be good, and I'm sure thinking about how nice the girls look (right guys?) This year was basically the same as any other. I would like to say though that the junior class did an excellent job of planning many details (cute fish bowls and sparkling cider bottles on the table) and it turned out to be an amazing night. Tons of pictures were taken. I do believe that I had a picture with almost everyone there. They were lining up to get their picture taken with me. That was really sweet and showed me that I'll be missed. There were class pics, Breadtalk memory pics, random pics with Andrew picking up Janalyn, of course the classic date pics, and many more to create lasting memories of the night. During the actual program, each of the 12 seniors had a slideshow of baby pics leading up to some currents pics with one of our favorite songs playing, and we each had one student and one parent/teacher talk about us. I was priveledged to have a great friend, Jeni, talk about me and to have both of my parents share something. It was a special night, with not as many tears as expected. However, since my mom didn't cry last night, Josh (a teacher) says that "once that dam breaks on graduation day it's gonna flood." In other words, watch out cause that woman can cry! The whole night was fun and filled with laughter and celebration. Afterwards, all the parents and teachers went home and most of the high schoolers stayed to watch Hitch and make s'mores out in the grouds of the hotel. It was beautiful out there. I got to jump on the trampoline with Val in my dress. That was fun. Now it's 5 days until graduation and it's really beginning to sink in. Last night was a great way to be able to have a fun closing.
